Las Vegas

A world of its own, for sure:

Barrymore @Royal Resort Hotel - Good second-tier steakhouse in a rather oddly decorated hotel. Ignore the unique lobby and get yourself seated in the main dining room, clublike and comfortable. The second DR is strictly for overflow and lacks panache. But the filet mignon is excellent, the sweetbreads on point, and the foie gras delectable - plus the portion sizes don't need a magnifying glass to be seen.

Reno

Not quite up to Las Vegas standards; still value quantity over quality but things are improving a bit.

Charlie Palmer's Steakhouse - Certain dishes are good, others not so much. Pick your way through the menu and it will be okay, but Sterlings is better overall.

Flavors Buffet - Skip this barely average disaster, and go for weekend brunch at Sterlings next door instead.

Sterlings Steakhouse - The steaks are excellent, the service is slightly better, but Reno just doesn't know how to handle foie gras very well yet. Sterlings is the pick of Reno's casino restaurants, though.

Stone House Cafe - A nice set of outdoor patios, but the food is only slightly above average. Quantities are large and service is good, which is why it rates so high with Yelpers. But outdoors on a nice day - yeah, it's worthwhile for a decent brunch.
